Hello everyone!
We are so thrilled to be able to all sing together again in the music room. It has been an absolute joy to hear the children’s voices!
Here’s what we’ve been doing in the music room for the month of October:
PreK and K: vocal exploration, matching pitch, tapping the beat on our bodies while listening to music. Ask about the apple passing game!
Grade 1: matching pitch, tapping the beat on our bodies while listening to music, tapping the beat on pictures related to songs. Ask about the apple passing game!
Grade 2: matching pitch, tapping the beat on our bodies while listening to music, reading our new rhythm “musical rest.” Ask about the Pumpkin Man game!
Grade 3: matching pitch, tapping the beat on our bodies while listening to music, lines and spaces on the musical staff, singing and reading our new musical notes sol and mi. Ask about the Pumpkin Man game!
Grade 4: matching pitch, tapping the beat on our bodies while listening to music, reviewing musical notes do mi sol and la, preparing for our new musical note. Ask about the Pumpkin Man game!
Grade 5: matching pitch, tapping the beat on our bodies while listening to music, reading and speaking the rhythm of split eighth notes, singing a round with two parts, preparing for our new musical rhythm. Ask about the Pumpkin Man game!
Choir: Yippee! Choir has started! We have had two wonderful rehearsals. We are working on learning how to do choral warmups and we have started some of our choir tunes. Ask about what the Swahili word “Jambo” means!
